Dedicated to "The Unknown Cartoonist"
To make their hardworking, self-sacrificing ranks feel more included, the military have invented this concept called "the unknown soldier." How about the valiant Canadian cartoonist, who has worked so hard and probably sacrificed much to get his/her work published? Well, this is the purpose of this page. To pay homage to these valiant souls and concurrently, perhaps open a forum to discover who they are.
This cartoon appeared in the Markdale Standard weekly newspaper sometime in the late 1950s, or early 1960s. The very talented artist(s) being unknown to me, despite it being clearly (albeit somewhat cryptically) signed.
My top three guesses:
1: JACK MAC MEHONEY?
2. JACK IMPE INEHONEG?
3. JACK & MAE MELFONEY?
